Westworld Renewed For Season 3--There Are No Violent Ends In Sight
Two episodes into its second season, and Westworld's future is as bright as its subject matter is dark. HBO has ordered a third season of the series, assuring fans will be traveling to the doomed theme park currently being overthrown by artificial intelligence for a long time to come.
The news comes on the heels of Episode 2's airing for the new season, which GameSpot's own Michael Rougeau said was far better and more fitting Season 2 premiere than the one fans actually got in his Westworld review. As the show goes back down its own rabbit hole, the mysteries and theories surrounding Westworld are as strong as ever--making it a good thing that there's no plan to end the series.
"It's been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew," HBO programming president Casey Bloys says in a press release. "From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us."
What the press release doesn't note is when Season 3 will actually arrive. After the show first premiered in October 2016, the second season of Westworld debuted over a year later, merely weeks ago. If Nolan and Joy stick to that same timetable, it'll be late 2019--possibly even early 2020--before the third season of Westworld arrives.
