Mega Man X Legacy Collection Coming In July
All eight of the main Mega Man X games will be coming across two compilations this July. Capcom announced today that the Mega Man X Legacy Collection and X Legacy Collection 2 will both be available on July 24. The first collection includes Mega Man X, X2, X3, and X4, while the second will have X5, X6, X7, and X8.
Both collections will be available digitally on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch for $20 apiece, or as a $40 retail bundle for the console versions. The PS4 and Xbox One console bundles will include a disc for each collection, while the Switch one will have a cartridge for the first collection and a download voucher for the second.
The collections add a new "X Challenge" mode that pits you against pairs of classic bosses. You can choose up to three weapons to take into battle with you, or challenge yourself with a buster-only run. Leaderboards will help you gain bragging rights for your maverick-hunting abilities.
Each of the games in the collection has gotten some degree of visual polish, like optional smoothing and CRT filters for the sprite-based games and 3D models getting sharpened for later ones. Both collections will include The Day of Σ, a video that was originally included as part of Maverick Hunter X on Vita. It tells the story leading up to the events of the first game. They'll also include a museum with trailers, key art, toys, trading cards, keychains, and other merch. Both collections will also include a soundtrack for X, X2, and X3, and new remixes.
