11 Wrestlemania 34 Dream Matches For Daniel Bryan

It happened. WWE finally cleared Daniel Bryan to wrestle again, and more than likely, his return match will be at Wrestlemania 34. While most of us remain in a state of shock with our jaws dropped to the floor, we can't help but think of all the potential matches that Bryan could have with his latest run in the company, as long as he stays healthy.

Let's pretend that Daniel Bryan can take on anyone currently employed by WWE, the storylines those folks are involved in don't exist, and their injuries are all healed up. Forget the match card and ask yourself, "Who would you like to see Daniel Bryan battle at Wrestlemania?"

While picking from everyone on the roster is quite the task, the wrestling nerds at GameSpot narrowed it all down to 11 matches that we'd love to see Daniel Bryan in at Wrestlemania, even if a couple are a bit far-fetched. And make sure to check back with GameSpot every day up until Sunday, April 8 for breakdowns of all the matches and our usual live coverage.

The Miz

Ever since August 2016, when The Miz went off on Daniel Bryan during an episode of Talking Smack, I have been dying to see the two fight each other. Both wrestlers have a long history with each other, as Miz was a mentor--during one storyline--to Bryan during his rookie year. Bryan later won the United States Championship from The Miz, which was his first title. Sometime later, Bryan won the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania 31 but had to relinquish it a year later when he was forced into retirement. The man that picked up the belt after him was none other than The Miz. There is no better storyline for Bryan than one with The Miz.

John Cena & Nikki Bella (Brie as Bryan's partner)

Understandably, this may not be a dream match for you, but it would draw in huge numbers for Wrestlemania. Teaming Daniel Bryan with his wife to take on his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, all the stars of Total Divas and Total Bellas on the E! network, would put a lot of eyes on WWE. This family feud match could be a lot of fun.

Woken Matt Hardy

Woken Matt Hardy is weird, wonderful, and wild. He's over with the WWE Universe, and the recent Ultimate Deletion was a breath of fresh air to the company, even if the bizarre event didn't fit WWE's normally highly produced standards. How awesome would it be for Daniel Bryan to make it to the Hardy Compound? Maybe he wants revenge for Bray Wyatt, as Bryan was a member of the Wyatt Family for roughly a week or two.

Kevin Owens

After the recent events on Smackdown, a battle between Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan will more than likely happen at Wrestlemania; however, it will probably also involve Shane McMahon and Sami Zayn as well. What I'd love to see is a simple, one-on-one match between the two. The story is already there, so it's easy for the crowd to get behind.

Aleister Black

If kicks in the face are your thing, then NXT's Aleister Black is a matchup you'd probably love to see. Black has extensive experience in various martial arts, and his in-ring style is proof of that. Similarly, Bryan uses a lot of kicks and knees while fighting, so a matchup between the two of them would make for a cool mirror match, in a sense, as long as the person in the mirror is a tall Dutch lad.

AJ Styles

Both Styles and Bryan have similar stories. Both men got their brief start in the big leagues: Styles with WCW and Bryan with developmental territories for WWE. Both men went on to shine in New Japan and Ring of Honor. Both men dominated the WWE when they were hired on. Sadly, we never got to see them fight it out in WWE--although they did in ROH. This is a match that needs to happen because both men are in the latter part of their careers, and there isn't much time left.

Adam Cole

Adam Cole bay-bay! It may be a little while before the former Bullet Club member gets his call-up to the main roster, but a match between Bryan and Cole would be amazing at Wrestlemania, mainly for the wrestling nerds out there--not so much for the average wrestling fan. Although Cole has a shorter career than others on this list, he has accomplished a lot on the wrestling circuit, primarily in ROH, PWG, and NJPW. Both Cole and Bryan are over with their fans, and this could be an extremely fun match.

Finn Balor

Here is another match fans would love to see, which happened a long time ago on the indie circuit. Years ago, Balor and Bryan fought each other at NWA Empire--under their real names. However, this was early in both of their careers, and both men hadn't entirely developed the style they have today. As far as talent goes at WWE, Finn Balor is on the top of that list for his in-ring ability, so this match-up would be perfect. The only suggestion I have is that Balor doesn't wear his demon makeup.

Johnny Gargano

Fans are counting down the days until Gargano crosses over to Smackdown or Raw, after being "fired" from NXT. Yet again, this is another dream match which already happened in the indies. In fact, they had a few battles together, with the most notable one being where Gargano pantsed Bryan--it's NSFW, so find it on your own. Many people have called Gargano "the next Daniel Bryan," so it seems perfect to have the two square off.

Samoa Joe

It's a bummer that Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan have not had a match in the WWE. The two had a few great matches in ROH, but they have yet to fight each other here. Aside from both men having distinct styles, it would be a "David vs. Goliath" event, as Samoa Joe is a wrecking ball, while Bryan relies more on speed and dexterity in the ring. If Samoa Joe wasn't injured right now, this could easily be on the Wrestlemania card.

Shinsuke Nakamura

It seems like every match involving Shinsuke Nakamura is a dream match, but no one wants to see these two battle more than Nakamura himself. He's tweeted that Bryan being cleared to wrestle is great news and that "no one needs to wish anymore." Bryan wanted to wrestle Nakamura in the past as an inter-promotional event between WWE and NJPW, but it never happened. Now, there's a really good chance we could see it, and frankly, Wrestlemania would be a great place for it.
