Fortnite Valentine's Day Update And Event Delayed Until After Valentine's Day
Fortnite developer Epic Games announced recently that it would launch a Valentine's Day event for its Save the World mode alongside a new update for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Previously, Epic had delayed released of the patch until today--and now it has pushed it back again, meaning that the Valentine's Day event will begin after the holiday.
On Reddit today, Epic announced that players will have to wait another day for update 2.5.0. As a result, Save the World won't have a Valentine's Day makeover until tomorrow, if the schedule remains as announced.
"Our v.2.5.0 update will release tomorrow; we apologize for the poor communication around this release and the delay of the patch," Community Coordinator Sean Hamilton wrote. "When we have more info on when the update will land, we'll drop those details."
Hamilton also explained how its plans to reset Seasonal Gold has changed in the wake of the delay. Previously, Epic had announced that it would wipe players' Gold with the release of 2.5.0. But now that the patch has been pushed back, this process has been thrown into disarray.
"Our initial plan was to reset Seasonal Gold in v2.5.0, which may have caused you to lose leftover gold," he explained. "To try and avoid that, we adjusted to convert the leftover Gold to Firecracker Tickets. Due to the delay in the build, there is nothing in the event store and Storm Llamas have disappeared. We did a poor job communicating this and did not create a good experience for you."
He continued, "Future gold resets will be on specific dates, following the Spring it on Event, and we will communicate that information to you in advance. For now, Seasonal Gold will be converted to Firecracker Tickets. We'll be adding a random Blue Schematic to the store, for you to spend any leftover Seasonal Gold you have."
The update adds some new content, including a Valentine's Day-themed questline, heroes, and the Cupid's Crossbow weapon. In addition, it brings a "reactive" quest type and an option to increase the Save the World mode's difficulty.
