Check Out MLB 18's New Features And Updates In PS4 Gameplay Video

We're still in the middle of winter, but spring is coming up soon, and the baseball season with it. That also means the inevitable return of Sony's MLB series, and for this year, MLB 18: The Show introduces a number of improvements and updates that PS4 fans can look forward to.

Among other things, Sony says it's completely reworked the game's tagging system. Everything has been re-written from the ground up, according to the company. A defensive player trying to tag out a baserunner should now have a better sense of what's going on around him. Meanwhile, catchers should be more aggressive in reacting to passed balls, which should result in fewer stolen bases.

Outside of those changes to things that more directly affect gameplay, there are other updates of note. These include more accurately reflecting the look of players, such as giving GIancarlo Stanton and Carlos Correa their distinctive face guards on their helmets. Additionally, there is an enhanced swing analysis box to show off your exact swing and let you get a better sense for what did (or didn't) work.

All of this and more are showcased in the PS4 gameplay video above. MLB 18 features the Yankees' Aaron Judge on the cover, and it launches on March 27, although pre-ordering the game gets you early access beginning on March 23.
