New PUBG PC Patch Fixes Long-Range Hits, Game Crashes

PUBG players on PC are seeing a small update to the game today that promises to fix two key issues. A patch, now live, addresses an issue with long-range hits not registering properly. The patch also fixes an issues with the game's lobby that caused the client to crash.

Players are being encouraged to download the patch right away. The massively popular shooter officially launched its 1.0 version on PC last month. It continues to be an unprecedented success, reaching 3 million concurrent players on Steam on December 30. The game's creator, Playerunknown aka Brendan Greene, has said he thinks the game could reach 100 million total players (not concurrent) to achieve League of Legends-like success.

An Xbox One version of the game is already out in the system's Game Preview program. It too is a huge hit already, selling 1 million copies in its first 48 hours, with the head of the game's developer PUBG Corp, Chang Han Kim, saying it has been "selling considerably" since then.

Kim also said the developer wants to bring the game to "every platform," so a PlayStation 4 release could be in the cards. He said part of what is keeping PUBG off PS4 for now (outside of Microsoft's timed-exclusive agreement) is that Sony's system doesn't have an Early Access program. The developer also said it has spoken with Netflix and people in Hollywood about extending the game to new mediums.
