PS4 And Xbox One Version Of Free-To-Play MMO Tera Out Now

Tera is an action MMO that came out on PC in 2012, but now console players are finally getting their chance to play. The game has just been released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with some key changes to make the experience better suited for players with a controller.

PS4 and Xbox One players can download Tera for free (the game is supported by microtransactions). Developer Bluehole says the console versions of the game include "intuitive and precise controls perfect for gamepads." It has introduced a new lock-on system to the game to help players stay focused on combat action. While each character class has its own unique default controls, they are also fully customizable to any layout you want.

Bluehole has also redesigned the game's UI to include a fully-customizable radial menu. This should make it easier to access your weapons and items on a controller. Lastly, the console versions have integrated support for Twitch and Mixer, and include voice chat support if you'd like to talk to fellow party members.

When the game first launched on PC in 2012, GameSpot gave it a 7.5/10 in our Tera review. Kevin VanOrd said the game followed the standard pattern for fantasy MMORPGs, having you complete quests and level up before heading to new areas; however, he said the combat was exceptional. "What a difference an excellent combat system makes, and in Tera's case, it elevates an ordinary game into something more delightful than you would have expected from an MMOG," he wrote. "It might be all about the fight, but when the fight is this much fun, you want to keep your axe arm swinging and your mouse finger clicking."
